School Proprietor

Sara Llewellyn - School Leader

The Maple Haven School was established with the clear purpose of delivering a safe, inclusive, and high-quality educational provision for children and young people with sensory and communication needs, enabling them to make strong progress from their individual starting points.

My role has evolved to reflect the strategic leadership responsibilities required to ensure the effective running of the school. As School Leader and strategic lead, I hold overall accountability for the quality of education, safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The needs and welfare of pupils underpin all decision-making, ensuring that safeguarding, safety, and inclusion remain central to the school’s daily practice. This is further supported through my active involvement in safeguarding and health and safety oversight. My primary focus is on strategic planning, school improvement, and sustainability. This includes implementing legislative and regulatory frameworks, monitoring risk, and planning for future capacity to ensure the school continues to improve and remains fit for purpose.

Maple Haven benefits from a highly skilled and experienced leadership and management team. The Management Team consists of Natalie Lovelock (Deputy Headteacher), Sophie Illingworth (Business Manager), Jamie Martin (Finance and IT Manager), and Hayley Richardson-Byrne (HR and Pastoral Manager). This structure enables clear lines of accountability and robust oversight across all areas of the school. Through regular review processes, I maintain direct oversight of financial forecasting, curriculum development, staff training, and human resources, ensuring statutory compliance and continuous improvement.

The Maple Haven School is committed to ongoing self-evaluation and improvement. My aim is to continue to prioritise investment in facilities, resources, and staff development to ensure the school delivers a high-quality, safe, and inclusive provision. The school remains focused on providing effective wrap-around care and securing the best possible outcomes for all pupils, both now and in the future.
